Home of Dr. James M. and Eloise Jones Dawson, at the corner of The Alameda and Polhemus Street (later Taylor Street), San Jose, California. Dr. and Mrs. Dawson and their son Thomas B. Dawson started the first canning operation in San Jose in their home’s backyard in 1871. Their first pack was 300 cases of peaches, apricots, pears and plums. Taken September 28, 1914.
